The Age of Technology
Isn’t it interesting that the device that can connect us across the globe is the same device that gets in the way of making human connections?
We increasingly miss out on the important moments of our lives as we pass the hours with our noses buried in our devices.Tanya Schevitz
In fact, a 2016 study showed that eighty-seven percent of people wake up and go to sleep with their smartphones. In addition, people swiped, tapped or clicked their phones 2,617 times each day.
My phone is down. Must check my phone. Whew, that’s better. I see my phone. Must check my phone. Ah, no messages. Good. Where is my phone? Must check my phone.
Can you relate??
The distraction of our phones is so brief, few of us even notice we’re doing it. Maybe it’s the human in us that loves a good distraction and a break from whatever we’re doing. If you ask us, we’ll be the first to admit we’ll jump on any form of distraction (notice the ‘jump’ play on the word here?) 😉
A part of our mission at Skywalker Trampolines is to create products that help kids, teenagers and adults alike get away from our tech devices and into an active lifestyle. Our hope is that our products will do their part in making real-life connections and creating memories.
The National Day of Unplugging takes place from sundown to sundown on March first through the second. This 24-hour global event highlights the value of disconnecting from digital devices to connect with ourselves, our loved ones and our communities in real time. 💙
Join us in the National Day of Unplugging and take the pledge here. We’d love to hear your reason for unplugging! Whether it’s to connect and find balance within yourself, spend time with the ones you care about, or even practice that gymnastic technique, we fully support you! Tag us with #playunplugged on social media and post a photo with “I unplug to_______,” so we can keep up with you.
